As a member of the Sustainable Pavement Program Consulting team, we have developed guidance documents for the pavement industry and state agencies how to advance sustainability in pavement design and operations. We are most proud of the publication of the FHWA Pavement Life Cycle Assessment Framework and are currently developing an LCA tool for pavement design in collaboration with UC-Davis, UIUC and APTech and a Pavement LCA Background Database Roadmap and PCR Guidance together with Michigan Tech with the Federal LCA Commons. For more about the program click here.

We have developed a two-part Product Category Rule program for the Program Operator Consortium as consultant to Sustainable Minds. The Program Operator Consortium (POC) was formed to provide more useful environmental product transparency solutions and to reduce complexity in the marketplace by:
- Standardizing how LCA-based standards for reporting product environmental performance get created
- Providing improved reports to help decision-makers specify materials and products
- Combining efforts to improve access to and recognition of manufacturers’ product declarations

We provide full service EPD generation and publication into national databases for several ROCKWOOL, ROXUL and ROCKFON business units in North America, Norway, Germany and The Benelux and new products like REDAIR and RockZero. Work include EPD tool development to be able to issue EPDs for insulation and ceiling tile products, including annual updates from manufacturing facilities.

In support of the Infrastructure and Pavement Asset Management Consultant program for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority with prime contractor Applied Research Associates, Inc. we provide LCA services to support pavement design decisions during the pre-bidding phase of capital programs. We support the approach and inventory for a pay-item based sustainability toolbox in an ongoing effort to make the Tollway the most greenest highway authority in the country.
